Warning Notice: Concerning Activities from the MHRA and the Manufacturers
Unbelievable and shocking behaviour. To those who have submitted their adverse report into the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Do not give permission or allow the manufacturers to contact your surgeon to allow them access to your medical records! Please click here to read more www.tvt-messed-up-mesh.org.uk/notice-mhra-concerns.html >>>

The main purpose of adverse reporting is to show the MHRA how many people are harmed and to collate data on all the TVTs/Meshes medical devices also to show the MHRA there is a real serious growing health problem in the UK. It is the MHRA who should be asking the manufacturers WHY is this happening and to give answers on their faulty medical devices, specifications, RCTs etc etc directly to them only and not to allow the manufacturers to approach ill people who are in a vulnerable state of health plus for putting the surgeons in a very awkward sitution after receiving permission to disclose private and confidential medical information between patient and surgeon, this is breaking patient confidentiality and also putting vulnerable people under pressure. Since my research began in 2008 and through the campaign work on the website since May 2009 our medical condition 'Chronic TVT/Mesh Implant Inflammation' >>> although most of us are known as ('Mesh Sufferers') our plight would never or it would of taken a very long time to get people to notice we do need a support service in the UK. All those hundreds of people over the years who have approached me and our volunteer supporters for help, advice and support would of been sat at home alone and thinking they are the only ones!

It's only through my persistence with the help from the kind volunteers who joined the support group as the years went by we have made our support group stronger and stronger living in hope all of us will get the correct treatment and professional advice from a team of legal advisors and from expert surgeons in mesh related complications. I am happy to say we are progressing fast and achieving results tirelessly working every single day and taking those little steps closer to having our voices heard.

Anyone who has set-up and is running a charity will understand how difficult it has been for me to organize and put into place all the relevant information and the elements involved to get our small charity into the first advance stage it is today. I have had to cope with all the work alone putting into place the charity details and also I am trying to cope with the maintenance of the website, message board, daily emails and telephone calls, writing letters plus doing research on the TVT's and Meshes.

As you can imagine all the striving, reading and typing I have had to do during the years to get this far has been extremely difficult for me to keep things going and I am sure most people do realise the amount of work involved. I would like to say how fantastic it is to work as a group and for us to make excellent progress in such a short time.

I can only work at a pace that suits me due to my own ill health issues plus I have poor eyesight, thank you to all the ones who fully understand why I can't do the work faster and for all your continued support to our cause.

If you feel we have helped you in anyway please consider giving a donation >>> to help our volunteers continue to give the support group a place to visit plus it will help to keep the website live with regular updated news for the UK and worldwide. Many thanks for your kindness.

I dedicate this video to all the women and men who are suffering
Close your eyes, relax your mind and listen (the lyrics are under the video)
"The Flower Duet (Lakmé)" - Léo Delibes.

Lyrics in english
Under the dense canopy
Where the white jasmine
Blends with the rose
On the flowering bank
Laughing at the morning
Come, let us drift down together
Let us gently glide along
With the enchanting flow
Of the fleeing current
On the rippling surface
With a lazy hand
Let us reach the shore
Where the source sleeps
And the bird sings
Under the dense canopy
Under the white jasmine
Let us drift down together

As you know Hayley and myself have been travelling to London over these past months and I am very happy to say we have Rosenblatt as our acting solicitors for our support group.

Keeping you in the loop on some news

This is an important read please look at this second public health notice released from the FDA.

FDA Safety Communication: UPDATE on Serious Complications Associated with Transvaginal Placement of Surgical Mesh for Pelvic Organ Prolapse
Date Issued: July 13, 2011
Abstract
Summary of Problem and Scope:
In the Oct. 20, 2008 FDA Public Health Notification, the number of adverse events reported to the FDA for surgical mesh devices used to repair POP and SUI for the previous 3-year period (2005 – 2007) was “over 1,000.” Since then, from Jan. 01, 2008 through Dec. 31, 2010, the FDA received 2,874 additional reports of complications associated with surgical mesh devices used to repair POP and SUI, with 1,503 reports associated with POP repairs and 1,371 associated with SUI repairs. Although it is common for adverse event reporting to increase following an FDA safety communication, we are concerned that the number of adverse event reports remains high.

Why are the MHRA delaying the Public Health Notice for the UK? All of us have been trying to tell them since 2008.

I have done more correspondence to the MHRA
Dated: 30th June 2011

This is what the MHRA told me:
The workshop to discuss Vaginal Tapes was held in mid March 2011. Following this meeting we plan to place some guidance on our Website in the near future. It is also my understanding that the Chairman from the meeting is going to publish an article on this matter.

This is the MHRA decision:
I have only just been able to establish the route of publication that is being taken. It has been decided by the chairman of the meeting to publish the document in a peer review journal, this process is very variable but as a guideline, it will be around 3 months until publication.

Lorraine reply to the MHRA:
Please re-consider your decision as a publication in a peer reviewed journal is very different from a warning notice from the MHRA. I feel it will have very little impact and will probably not be widely read. We need a warning, similar to the FDA and Canadian organization, this is far more appropriate.

At this present time I have got to wait 20 days for the MHRA to re-consider their decision.

Who is going to speak up for our senior citizens concerning hernia mesh? A manageress of a care home rang me and reported there are men in her care home who have open stomach wounds with plastic sheeting covering it and the care workers are shocked and distressed to see plastic threads (mesh) coming away from the wounds, they don't know what it is or what to do. I can believe this is happening as I seen it first hand when I last visited the hospital and seen a woman there with an open stomach wound with plastic sheeting covering it with the same thing happening with plastic blue threads coming away, I said to her how long have you been here and she replied 3 months she went on to say they don't know what to do about it! How many more are like this around the country?.

Another concern: it is very distressing to hear some surgeons in the UK are becoming very angry with their patients when they go to them for help on their mesh problems, this is not acceptable and I feel sure many will say the same. All of these women are in daily pain and suffering they need a sympathetic hearing if you cannot help your patients then please do the decent thing and refer them to another consultant who can help them. If the surgeons want to turn to anger then direct it to the MANUFACTURERS and not us.

Righteous anger is acceptable for us who are suffering as none of this was our fault, if a surgeon gets angry then this is totally unacceptable because all of this happening to us is their fault.

3rd July 2011
This is the time to give praise to all the people who are helping us to bring awareness on the harms associated with TVT’s and Meshes affecting both men and women.

To all those people who are involved in our work who have kindly given us their valuable time and advice freely I want to say thank you for all your understanding on our plight and for showing such kindness to help us all.

I can understand it is very difficult for men to talk about these issues and I hope with all my heart they are looked after properly by their consultants. We are here for the men too but I feel they need a website for problems I have allocated a forum on the message board for men only besides the forum for the women. Both areas are private to both groups.

Soul Searching words from my heart especially to those who need to change:
Start
My heart is hurting to see and hear such suffering, the pain and enormity of the people harmed is too much to bear. Why do they continue to do such despicable harm to the people who go into this kind of surgery unknowingly they will be suffering to the extent of losing their health permanently. The bleeding thoughts that go on inside of the surgeons head is undoubtedly a wicked achievement, why can’t they see? Are they blinded by that much power and control they forget a duty to the human soul is to live a perfect happy peace of mind.

When will this stop?

Pray with us and see an end to all of this charade of deceit and lies you must realise this wrong and take pity on those you have harmed, stop this madness and broach the question: do we really need to be doing this or are we doing this for our own self purpose? Look into your soul and see what you have become take notice and stop delving into things you should no longer practise keep the mind empty of thoughts of control take compassion and throw it to the wind grab it and take control of the meaning of life once again.

Many are in self doubt you are the very person who needs to commit an act of selfless control give back your empathy and give it back to those who deserve such kindness. Many people are watching this site around the World and many are turning away from the wickedness you have manifested, keep strong and brave you can change if you want to. Give your soul a chance to heal and turn away from punishing thoughts you can do it my friends we are all as one.
End

We do hear from some surgeons who now refuse to implant the mesh but very concerning when we hear some surgeons are saying it is the older mesh that was harmful and still insist there is a new mesh to help, we know the truth a slight modification does not mean the mesh is not harmful it is still the same product.

There is no excuse when we hear the surgeons are angry, upset and shouting the odds to those who are suffering whilst we who are harmed remain calm, educated and show empathy to each other. It begs the question why are these surgeons so angry with us? I know for a fact and feel sure many will agree it is unacceptable to have anger in the medical profession. Where are the scruples, manners and calm superfluous dignity our surgeons once had? No patient is going to trust a surgeon who lacks such compassion.

Recently we are hearing some surgeons cannot treat some of us, what are these women supposed to do now? You cannot leave us in this state it is your duty as a surgeon to correct the damage. You should never implant a product if you cannot deal with mesh related complications associated with TVT’s and mesh products! If you cannot help us then please do the decent thing and find an experienced qualified surgeon who can help your patients, do not leave us in the lurch sent home feeling alone and upset and then expect us to live in daily pain and suffering.

If there are experienced and qualified surgeons familiar with the Trans-Obturator (TOT) procedure please can you contact us we need more surgeons due to refusal from original surgeons who are saying they cannot help these women, all of them have confirmed mesh erosion/extrusion and need the mesh removed please contact us if you can help tvt-messed-up-mesh.org.uk/contact-tvt.html >>>

View this webpage to read some of the comments, reactions and things we are told at our consultations plus from the Governing bodies and Manufacturers who are supposed to be protecting us from harm. tvt-messed-up-mesh.org.uk/hard-to-believe-quotes.html >>>

Blowin' In The Wind (Bob Dylan) with lyrics showing below the video

Lyrics
How many roads must a man walk down,
before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove fly,
before she sleeps in the sand?
And how many times must a cannon ball fly,
before they're forever banned?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist,
before it is washed to the sea?
How many years can some people exist,
before they're allowed to be free?
And how many times can a man turn his head,
and pretend that he just doesn't see?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.

How many times must a man look up,
before he sees the sky?
And how many ears must one man have,
before he can hear people cry ?
And how many deaths will it take till we know,
that too many people have died?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.

This song is for those who try and stop our work.
From Lorraine and Hayley
The Seekers We Shall Not Be Moved 1966

Well I'm on my way to heaven,
We shall not be moved.
On my way to heaven
We shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's standing by the water side,
We shall not be moved.

Chorus:
We shall not, we shall not be moved.
We shall not, we shall not be moved.
Just like a tree that's standing by the water side
We shall not be moved.

On the road to freedom,
We shall not be moved.
On the road to freedom
We shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's standing by the water side,
We shall not be moved.

Chorus
We're brothers together,
We shall not be moved.
We're brothers together,
We shall not be moved.
Just like a tree that's standing by the water side
We shall not be moved.

Lorraine with Tiff and Sid

People say to me: Lorraine how do you cope with it all?
In brief it's mind over matter and living a balanced life that suits me around the 24/7 hour/day clock. Plus I have a wonderful, loving and caring husband who really is the perfect husband, my family, personal friends and all the meshie friends I have made throughout the years they too have given me help and of course all the medical teams.

I can assure you it is not an easy life, it is extremely hard living this way. Still to this day I continue to fight my health issues and I try to block it out the best I can as I want to make the most of my life as we all know life is far too short to dwell on health issues daily.

The hardest thing for me to accept is the fact a person did this to me it was not a natural occurance like an onset of disease, my life changed in an instant through the negligence of my surgeon who I thought was an experienced qualified surgeon to do the TVT procedure and later found out he was not, qualified yes but definately not experienced in the procedure, there were 3 of us that morning and 2 of us suffered at this mans hands although I don't know what happened to the other lady.

I am determined throughout the rest of my life although in ill health I will continue to get my voice and all the other people who are suffering from mesh related complications voices heard too, the Medical World owe it to us all to have a full investigation considering they have not only changed our health but our quality of life.

The Beatles - We Can Work It Out

Try to see it my way,
Do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on?
While you see it your way,
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone.
We can work it out,
We can work it out.

Think of what you're saying.
You can get it wrong and still you think that it's alright.
Think of what I'm saying,
We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night.
We can work it out,
We can work it out.
Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it's a crime,
So I will ask you once again.

Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong.
While you see it your way
There's a chance that we may fall apart before too long.

We can work it out,
We can work it out.

A bit of a rant today!

This slight rant is not aimed at my lovely meshy friends, you have been such beautiful ladies and you have been genuinely supportive to me and to each other. Warm hugs to you all.

This rant is for the ones who continually try and down play my work, devious tactics etc, it is them I point this rant at and they know who they are. But can I say I hope after reading this you will give me better support here and consider giving us the help we all so need.

I am a professional and I have worked on a PC and on the internet since 1986 and I know how it works inside out with years of experience as a professional web designer. My previous career before this mesh surgery which was so cruely robbed from me is at senior management level. Since my mesh surgery I have produced this website you are viewing and also I have another website which has received the Barclays Trading Places Award as one of the Top 10 businesses for the South West of England and recently my products are on the BBC2 Antique Masters Show to be aired very soon, plus very soon I have an interview with a top website that has celebrities on it. My achievements come from years and years of pure dedication to my work, I constantly read and self educate on everything and I mean everything.

Unfortunately when some people speak to me I often get judged due to my speech impairment, this came about after having the mesh surgery and developed into Myasthenia Gravis, I am much better at writing than speaking. I find it quite disturbing people judge on the way a person speaks and on their appearance, why oh why do people have to pull those down who are extremely intelligent just because they have a disabilty, most of these people who think like this do not give their time of day and they do not want to associate or socialize with someone who has disabilites. Oh and I have to add at this point there is such a thing as righteous anger!

I am very intuitive and trust my instincts, I know when the time is right to relay most of work. Little steps makes for great progress, this work for TVT Mum cannot be rushed through it is an extremely complex situation we face concerning our health, quality of life, the medical world, the manufacturers, the pharamcuetical companies, the NHS, the Govening bodies MHRA, NICE and lots more other government backed organizations ie: WHO, the EU, etc etc, toxins, CE directives, Law, Legal, solicitors, Research, expert articles, updating website every day, and then there is the support groups everywhere to keep going Plus it is the same scenario in other Worldwide countries with their own Governing bodies etc.

Where do I get my reseach - from reliable and trusted websites and medical experts, I know the duff websites from the genuine.

The complexity of it all is absolutely outrageous I cannot express enough how difficult this has been for me to put into words what is going on with the subject of meshes. Try and write the things I have written for this website, it has taken me thousands of hours of dedication and then can you believe it someone comes along and copies it all, do I care they pinch my stuff no not really as it just goes to show I am right. I have seen experts use my words for their own articles and some people have even heard their consultants quote my words too! This is excellent news good to hear they are reading and listening.

Isn't it unbelievable one piece of mesh in the human body can cause such devastation around the Globe? Oh and I must say this too if I get my grammer and spelling wrong so be it! as long as the message gets out who cares. I am not fit and healthy like everyone else who is employed and paid to do smililar work as this, I am disabled from mesh and have other health issues too and unpaid, my work is all voluntary work and if my grammer is shabby so what if it is. When in ill health there are bound to be days are thinking gets impaired and this goes for everyday living too.

After updating today with more stuff I am sick of the word Mesh! mesh this, mesh that, what's mesh etc Mesh mesh mesh! argh had enough of it today, please get this darn mesh off the market!

So much to organize and get done this is going to take years of work for everyone involved and this is the reason for my short break from it all. I want some quality time with my own family and decided to be away from the website until 1 June 2011. I think you will all agree I have put more than enough information onto the website for the time being. I have also given alot of support and help to everyone and I have my own health issues to cope with. However, I will answer new and urgent enquiries only during this time but there will be a delay. I will be thinking of all my friends and everyone who continues to support this valuable website. Thank you.

I will probably read this tomorrow or another time and think - oh heck I really had a bad day today. Oh well such is life, don't we all get days like this, I bet you do!.

Ah the joy of having some peace and quite at last, a nice read, pamper, music on, family fun, thats it - Poooff I am gone, outa here, over and out until the 1 June 2011 then as Arnie would say "I'll be back".

Disability Experience

Occasionally over time I will write about my disabilty experiences. This is quite an amusing story.

I am housebound since I had this dreadful TVT put inside my body. This surgery from day one has given me numerous health issues continually for years, besides the darn mesh breaking off and migrating around my once healthy tissues I developed and have been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) and Diabetes. Plus since having this nightmare tvt surgery I can no longer go out to work and registered disabled.

On Monday 23 May 2011 I thought I have got to get out of this house, this is a very rare treat for me and decided to go out for a meal with my husband and younger son at our local Harvester restaurant. We parked in their disabled bay and when we got inside the restaurant I could see the barman and the waitress staring, I did not think much of it and continued to ask for a table for 3 people.

The waitress guided us to our table and on our way we seen in the middle of the restaurant a lovely large water feature with fish in it with tables placed nicely and also there were tables around by the walls most of them empty, she continued past it all and took us to a part segregated away from this lovely water feature, it was like a small hideaway, the waitress said to us, "I thought you might like to sit by the window", I was thinking maybe they have a large party arriving or the tables must be booked, anyway this window was small with a single pane and the view was their shabby back yard with a craggy grey stone wall, nice view haahahhaha and the window was filthy dirty with cobwebs and flies stuck to it.

I continued to think why? anyway the waitress arrived back and we ordered our main course and told to visit what was left of the salad bar, I said to her "shall we order dessert now or later?" her reply was "you might not have enough room", I thought ok understandable we will order after our main course.

The meal arrived, well I could not believe my eyes our poor son he said "mum what is this I can't eat this steak it looks burnt", he asked for a well done steak, talk about burnt hard as nails cannot cut it steak!, I felt so sorry for him, poor lad, I tried to scrape off the burnt bits to no avail, I said to him "look son just order the most enormous dessert after you have eaten your chips although warmed up", they were definately not freshly made, and I said to him "when you get your dessert this will hopefully make up for it".

When the waitress came back to collect our plates she said "everything alright", I said "yes thanks, great for the dogs can I have a doggy bag please to put this steak in" hahahhahaha, she came back and said we don't have doggy bags and gave me some cling film so I continued to wrap the steak and plonked it in the middle of the table.

Then we ordered 3 enormous share desserts! the look on her face hahahahaha.

She came back and said "wow you ate alot", what did she expect after receiving such disgusting food, near on empty salad bar and a few stale rolls left, burnt steak and warmed up chips with a lovely dirty window to look out of. We got up and paid our bill, and can you believe we even left a tip we said our thank you and waved goodbye and left.

Now I want to say this, when I got home I thought about our experience at the restaurant as it's not often we go out together as a family, if this is how people treat the disabled is it any wonder we stay at home?. Looking back obviously we were spotted parking in the disabled bay and (yes I do have a blue badge), I can honestly say I reckon they judged us, they hid us away in this little corner and I can only assume they were thinking it will save them embarressment of having the disabled eat at their restaurant, I say this because those empty tables were not booked.

Other people were guided to our area too and one couple said "can we sit over there?" pointing to the water feature, oh the shock and horror to even mention it hahahhaha I could see the waitress was very hesitant to allow them such a nice table, maybe it's because they had a small child or maybe they don't live in so called posh Frenchay, I don't know but she did oblige in the end. I thought good on them for speaking up.

Is it normal practise to save these tables for the so called 'elite'! it just makes me laugh thinking about it now especially after eating such disgusting food and their staff thinking what I can only assume - Oh you lot are not from Frenchay are you, let's bung them in the corner! sorry but this is what it looked like to me.

I wasn't angry whilst there I just found the whole experience amusing. Suffice it to say I will never order another main meal at this place again, but I will go back one more time with my family and order the smallest thing on their menu just to get a photograph and post it on here so you can see where this waitress sat us. I mean I would understand it if the place was full but on this occasion it wasn't I wonder why? hahahhhahha got to see the funny side of life.

People again! you know since I became disabled and I have to add here through no fault of my own I really appreciate what disabled people go through when we face and hear from ignorant, judgemental, selfish and patronising people.

A film to watch - on Thursday night I watched 'inside I'm Dancing' also released under the title Rory O'Shea Was Here. The film revolves around two disabled young men who pursue physical and emotional independence in direct defiance of "protective" institutional living and their society's prevailing standards and attitudes, especially pity. Try and watch it! it brought tears to my eyes and made me think how lucky I really am. We need to look around us more often to appreciate what we really have in life especially the healthy and fit who continually ignore disabled people and their social interactive needs.

There is a difference between qualified and experienced qualified surgeons

Over the years it has been extremely difficult to find surgeons who are experts in synthetic surgical polypropylene mesh (PPM) and mesh related complications. I often get asked "where can I find an expert surgeon?"

I just want to say at this point when a surgeon says they are qualified to do these TVT's or any kind of mesh surgery do not listen to them. Are you wondering why? because there is a significant difference between 'qualified' and an 'experienced qualified surgeon'.

There is a webpage on our website - 'Recommended Surgeons' - All these surgeons have come highly recommended by World Leading Authorities on Synthetic Surgical Polypropylene Mesh and other Meshes both for implantation and mesh related complications they are Professor Zimmern in Dallas and Dr Raz in the USA. I contacted Professor Zimmern years ago as I was desperate to find someone to help me here in the UK he then very kindly replied and gave me the details of all the recommended experienced surgeons we have today.

Plus over the years from receiving many enquiries on where to find help on synthetic surgical polypropylene mesh complications ie: mesh erosion we are now finding more surgeons through recommends from our own support group testimonials.

Another question I get asked is "why are some of these same surgeons still putting in TVT's?" well I look at this way, isn't it good to find an expert consultant who understands TVT's and the problems surrounding meshes rather than a surgeon who says he is qualified but not experienced to perform such a procedure? I for one would rather have an experienced surgeon who knows what he/she is doing to give me the correct treatment.

Unfortunately we have to accept we are still being experimented on with mesh problems and I have to add at this point the medical world call us 'complex' due to each individual medical history, it really depends on the length of time you have had the mesh in, the longer the mesh is in the more complex it becomes to get the mesh out. Do you really want an 'inexperienced' surgeon to take your mesh out that has been in for years?! this procedure is a very complicated and serious operation and you definately need an 'expert' to get the mesh out.

I cannot repeat this enough - please find an expert surgeon and never allow anyone who has never done this type of surgery before touch you because unfortunately guess work is causing more problems!. Do your research and go armed with plenty of questions.

You will find most surgeons are still using the TVT's in the UK and as you can imagine I find it very disturbing they still continue to use them. I am on the understanding it is the 'hierarchy' who have a lot to answer for as I feel the surgeons are forced to use these medical devices, it's like having a boss and you are the worker being told what to do, in fact there are many reasons why they still use them especially if you consider 'egos', loosing their job and fear of reputations etc. The day is coming when it will all be exposed.

I like to say it is little steps at a time flowing through every single day and 'they' who are the medical world including the manufacturers of these products all know eventually there has to be some sort of a compromise to stop further implantation of surgical synthetic mesh and go back to using the conventional method of treatment or at best to offer their patients alternative treatments. Most of the time you do not need surgical intervention.

I have heard there are approx 30 different mesh kits flooding the market, unbelievable the medical world has allowed Medical Marketing to overtake Medical Science. No wonder they call us 'complex'.
