1. Petiton - UK
Investigate trans vaginal sling (tvt sling ) complications
Published by teresa hughes on May 19, 2009

Background (Preamble): The MHRA in the UK know of the growing number of adverse incidents in the UK and at this moment in time are not doing anything to stop the complications and poor quality of life that this operation can bring about with this device. The FDA in America issued a Health Publication in October 2008 about the complications of this device and this operation this has not been done in the UK.

The MHRA needs to issue a Health Publication in this country right now. There are to many people suffering in silence. I am one of them. I now have polyprolene mesh entwined around my bladder and embedded in my pelvic organs and will need surgery to remove it and also reconstruction surgery.

This can be life threatening. I have been writing letters to Downing Street and have also produced a paper petition through friends family and associates in order to get this petition to parliament. I intend to ask my Member of Parliament Mr Shaun Woodward in the near future to present this petition to parliament.

Petition:
We the undersigned ask the prime minister to investigate the serious complications of the operation for the tvt sling which is used on women for incontinence. This operation which is used globally and is being used as a quick fix operation on women is being done without telling them the serious complications which can arise.
This device needs to be investigated further and a Health Publication needs to be issued by the MHRA in the United Kingdom to inform the patients of the serious complications which can arise.

This device can break away and gets embedded into your bladder and pelvic organs and can cause serious complications. We need to open awareness to the public about the serious complications that this operation can bring about. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/investigate-trans-vaginal-sling-tvt-sling-complications.html
