NOTICE
TVT Mum website is purely to give help and support to both men and woman who have had the medical device Transvaginal Tension Free Tape (TVT) Sling, synthetic polypropylene mesh for hernias, prolapse, stress incontinence and bladder and bowel disorders. If you are seeking answers or maybe you want to share your experiences please register with TVT Mum. We are here to give you comfort and to let you know you are not alone, we can help each other through this very difficult time coping with our daily life from being harmed by these medical devices. We are not here to give medical advice in any way although we can put you in contact with experts who can help you professionally.
We want to protect our members privacy the best we can. We have in place at TVT Mum a Data Protection Policy. The Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act) provides safeguards for handling personal information about living and identifiable individuals and is based upon 8 principles of 'good information handling' you can request a copy of our policy at any time.
This has not been easy for me to recognise who is genuine and who is not when people join our group. I do not know everyone personally and it can be very difficult for me to know who to fully trust and pin-point who is genuine. Our support group is an extremely serious group with people who have severe health problems and I want to ensure everyone is given the right support and advice from the right people within the group. We have a Professional who is an accredited fully qualified Counsellor to help those who need emotional support, her name is Hayley Martin and you will find her on the message board with the username: Hayley-01.
Anyone found to be promoting medical products, advertising websites, recommending surgeons without my permission, promoting alternative treatments, dishing out medical advice to other members, sending medical material to members without first me seeing it, or causing any disruption on the message board and to other members in our support group will be instantly banned. This goes for any spammers who try to disrupt our work, your IP address, Email and username will be banned and permanently removed from our register.
Unfortunately some people are very devious and will pretend to be genuinely concerned when in fact they are collating information from you for their own research, they could be doctors disguising, manufacturers or anyone trying to access your details and saving your data without your permission and without your privacy protection.
All I am saying is please be aware of who you correspond with especially concerning your health issues. The only people to give medical advice is a Professional Medical Expert like a surgeon, GP, Consultant and others who are fully qualified and experts in their field of medicine and do not give it to anyone else.
Please see our support group as a way to have emotional support only, we are here to help you as a friend so you are not sat at home alone. When you first approach TVT Mum for help and advice we will give you the support and point you in the right direction for the best expert advice. It is your own personal choice to share your TVT experiences with others on the message board and also to make new friends who really do care.
Your TVT experience also helps me with my own research to understand what the full extent of the problems are with these medical devices. I can assure you all you are fully protected by the TVT Mum Data Protection Policy and your information is never shared with third parties without your permission and written consent. The only persons authorised to counsel you for emotional support is Hayley Martin and myself Lorraine Evans. If you decide to share your medical history with another sufferer on the message board we cannnot accept responsibility if things go wrong. I hope this helps you to make the decision on who is the best person to help you.
We have some members in our support group who decide to have full privacy this is why you will not see all our members on the message board and I feel sure many people will understand the reasoning to do this considering this is such a Taboo subject with health and Meshes.
Phew this website is getting harder and harder to maintain! I hope everyone understands the situation with Data Protection as I really want you all to feel safe and secure sharing your TVT experiences whilst in our support group.
